Tuesday of Senior High Camp!

August 10th, 2010

Today started out to be a pretty cloudy and rainy day but ended up to be amazing!! He had long options day today. So, we had trails available to go hiking on. Trails like Dirty face, Twin lakes, Eagles Crest, and even Mount David. There were plant of trails for everyone to go on and we also had a few spots available to go tubing down the river with our on staff lifeguard! I’m sure people loved that one! After everyone gets back we are going to have dinner together and then off to our evening program which consists of Minute to Win it!!! It’s a game that is kind of like the old tv show “Minute to Win It”. Where each contenstant (campers) are given a task to do. The catch is that the camper only has one minute to finish the task! The campers love this game and we award each team with spirit points to help them chear for their teammates and come up with creative cheers. It’s going to be a great time!!

Then after that we will have campfire time where we will sing some goofy songs and some serious worship songs and then have a little talk with our guest speaker this week. What a full day we have here at Tall Timber Ranch!

Little on the chilly side

August 9th, 2010

Here at camp it was a little bit chilly in the afternoon. but we still had a lot of fun! After breakfast we split up into two groups and one group went to the low-ropes course while the other went to bible study. Then halfway through, the groups switched and went to the other activity. The Low Ropes Course is a team bonding activity that requires the whole cabin to be involved. Some of the Low Rope elements were things like the Trust Fall, it’s where they have one person in the cabin go up on a log and fall backwards into the rest of the cabins arms and the person falling has to really trust the rest of the group to catch him. It was great bonding time within the cabins!

After lunch we had some afternoon options open for the campers. Things such as the giant water slide, the high ropes course, the swimming hole, Rock Wall, Crafts, and the Store was open for the campers to get some candy or a refreshment. Then at 4:30 we had our famous Mud Pit!! It was awesome..although a little chilly but still a great time! We did things like tug of war, and just plain got muddy!

It was a great day here at Tall Timber Ranch!!

Senior High Camp is here to stay!

August 8th, 2010

Senior High Camp is all registered! We played some mixers and went over camp rules already! after dinner we are going to have our evening program which is couselor skits to help the campers get to know the couselors a little better! Laughes and giggles are in store for tonight!

Then after the evening program we are having a night game for the campers! We are going to play Lord Of the Rings. Basically the campers individually have to take rings into the mount doom and through it in the fire. but they are disstracted by evles and raves! (which are staffers here at Tall Timber Ranch).

Through out the week i, the Media Specialist, will be updating anyone who wants to read the blog everyday and also the photo gallery on the main Tall Timber Ranch Website. I will be uploading photos, and posting new blogs everyday so keep in touch with what is going on at camp this week!!

Friday of Junior High Camp

August 6th, 2010

Today is a hot one here at Tall Timber Ranch! We are wrapping up the week with our weekly Renaissance Faire! Its really fun to watch the kids play the games and learn a little about the Renaissance era! we also have  our owon make shift Dunk tank available for the campers to “dunk” their couselors. What we did was rig up a toilet on top of this platform and hook up a water hose to it and when the campers through a softball at a target, and if they hit the target the toilet flushes (p.s. it is all clean water! It is not really toilet water that we are flushing onto the couselors!) when the toilet flushes it gets the couselor all wet. It’s a great tradition we have here at Tall Timber Ranch!

After the Faire, we are having our cooking staff make the campers a Renaissance Feast! Our head cook Vistoria has done a lot of research in what a Renaissance Feast entitles and what was the typical food of choice back in the Renaissance Era! It’s a great time and a great last dinner that the campers have!

thursday of Junior High Camp!

August 6th, 2010

This week is going by sooo fast!! It’s already thursday!!

Today we had a lot of cool activites going on! we had our morning worship time in the A-frame, then our morning classes that ranged from drama class to Adventures with Josh that included bmx the first class and possibly mountain boarding for the second class! Then when we opened up a lot of activites around camp for afternoon options. But the weather had a different plan in mind..we came accross a thunder storm which caused our power to go out for a few hours so we hung out and did some activities in the lodge and bonded while we waited for the storm to pass and the power to go back on!

Then when the storm cleared up in time for campfire and ’smores! after the campfire they went back to their cabins for cabin time and to talk about what they heard from the speacker. Later tonight each cabin is going to do a prayer walk. It’s a great way to help get re-connected with God in a peaceful setting!

Wednesday of Junior High Camp!

August 4th, 2010

Today was a great day here at Tall Timber Ranch!! We had beach day!! It was so much fun to hang out at the beach for the afternoon and cool off from the hot sun in Lake Wenatchee!

Tonight we are going to have our evening program!! It’s Minute to win it! Its where campers get into three teams and each camper has a task to do. The catch is that the task is timed and the camper can only have one minute to finish the task! Tasks such as Rolling another camper in toilet paper, or bouncing ping pong balls onto a honey smothered bread and getting them to stick! Its a lot of fun because the groups can chear and earn extra spirit points to help out their teams!

After the evening program we are having our campfire. We’ll conclude with some worship songs and some goofy camp songs! Then our speaker will give his talk then off the bed and lights out!
