Comhar Missions

Calvin Presbyterian Youth

“Comhar” (pro. Core) is the Gaelic word for “teamwork” or “partnership”.  For us, it also means “community helping adventures” -  a partnership between Tall Timber, your church and local community based service groups in the greater Wenatchee area.

Let us help you design a unique mission experience for your youth - adult group combining meaningful local service projects with Tall Timber’s renowned  teambuilding adventure activities.  Tall Timber Ranch staff will handle all of the details such as food, lodging, worksite, Bible study, and evening activities.

Why Tall Timber?  As a base camp, Tall Timber offers a stunning setting, great food, outstanding activities, and access to a diverse range of needs and service opportunities – from rugged wilderness and rural communities to the famous orchard country and city of Wenatchee.  Seattle is just 2 hours away.  For over 25 years, Tall Timber has included in its Statement of Purpose a goal that people would “be prepared for local and worldwide service”.  Comhar Missions is a natural outgrowth of that goal, and is committed to the belief that a heart for service begins with an awareness of the needs around us.

Our Partners

Tall Timber Ranch has partnered with numerous organizations and agencies throughout our region who work with children, adults, disabled, elderly, and the natural environment.  These include Habitat for Humanity, Upper Valley Mend/Share, Catholic Family and Child Services, Serve Wenatchee Valley, Forest Service, Trusting Spirit Horse Rescue, Chelan Douglas Land Trust, and others.  Unique aspects of COMHAR Missions are the two service tracks we have available:

COMHAR Servants - “whatever you did for the least of these my brothers, you did for me” Matt. 25:40
Christ reached out to those in need and calls us to follow Him.  Our human service partner agencies include food banks and homeless shelters, low income housing projects, chore services and homes for seniors and the handicapped, and more.

COMHAR Stewards“And the Lord God put the man in the garden to work it and take care of it” Gen 2:15
Stewardship of Creation was the first job God gave mankind, and is central to what it means to be human and serve God on earth.  Our Steward partner agencies care for parks and trails, animal rescue facilities, fisheries, produce gardens, orchards, restoration projects and recycling.

Bible Study

Tall Timber will provide 4-5 days of Bible Study materials as a resource for daily devotions, study and reflection.  Use of these materials is optional.  Outlines are available on request.
Comhar Servants study will focus on Christian leadership development, with a focus on biblical models of leadership, group dynamics, spiritual gifts and service.  Written by Penny Laitos, Program Director,
Comhar Stewards study will provide a separate track focusing on a biblical understanding of Christian stewardship, based on Directors Stan and Becky Fishburn’s 12 years teaching a Whitworth College Jan-Term Religion class entitled “Ecothology - Christian Perspectives on the Environment”
