Snow Camp

Holiday Snow Camp

December 27-30, 2010

Tall Timber Ranch is ideally situated for an exceptional winter experience. It lies in the heart of the North Cascades, bordering the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area. A scenic log lodge will welcome you. If you love the charm and beauty of Tall Timber in the summer, wait until you see it transformed by the magic of winter.

What Will We Do?Cross Country Ski

Snow Camp is a time to renew friendships, have fun, and strengthen your faith.  After a late breakfast, mornings will be spent in worship, solo time and small group discussion. In the afternoons, there will be a variety of optional activities including short and long cross country ski and snowshoe tours, inner tubing, indoor crafts, cooking projects, or just visiting. Be as active (or not) as you want!  On the 29th  we will offer an optional trip up to Stevens Pass for alpine skiing or snowboarding. (Supply your own gear and ski ticket; there will be a $5 bus fee).

The long winter evenings will be super times of fellowship as we sing and worship together around the fire, have great teaching and small group discussion.  Evening fun times will include a concert and “open mike” coffee house, and a crazy gift exchange party (be sure to bring a cheap and silly gag gift!)

We will meet you at the Tall Timber winter parking lot at 2 PM on December 27th.  Pick up will be at the same spot at 2 PM on the 30th.   Cost: $150 (includes any gear rental)

Teaching and Worship

“In, Not Of” is our theme.    God calls us, as His disciples, to be in the world but not of it.   With all the flashing lights, talking heads and blaring stereos, it can be easy to feel distracted and overwhelmed by the constant flood of media surrounding us.  How can we absorb the sights, sounds and messages around us without faltering from the path God has paved for us?   We will utilize some of the Rob Bell Nooma videos as a lead-in to thought provoking small group discussion. Come and explore with us what it means to live in this media centered world as God’s child.

Leadership

Penny Laitos, Program Director, will lead the Snow Camp Program.  Stan Fishburn, Camp Director, will also assist along with all the great Tall Timber year-round staff.  Jonathan Deal will be back to lead worship. Joining them will be skilled and mature counselors and staff, including a number of returning summer staff.  Together they will provide the confidence and guidance you want for a safe, fun and exciting winter experience.

Concert

Beth WhitneyJoin us for a holiday concert at Tall Timber Ranch.  On December 28th, 8:30pm, Beth Whitney and her husband Aaron Fishburn will perform in the Napeequa Room at Tall Timber Ranch.  The concert is free; a donation will be taken for Beth and Aaron and refreshments will be served.  Come for just the evening or plan to stay overnight.  Call or email the camp office for more information.  (509)763-3127   cathi@talltimber.org
